This is what you call a curve ball. ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting the San Francisco 49ers are going to hire former NFL player John Lynch to be their next general manager. The team interviewed George Paton and Terry McDonough, but Jennifer Chan and Matt Maiocco both reported there was a mystery third candidate. Lynch would appear to be that guy. Schefter is reporting he will get a six-year contract.
Lynch is entirely out of left field. He currently works as a color analyst for FOX’s NFL coverage, and has no front office experience.
