The San Francisco 49ers brought back a former player star on Monday, hiring one-time Niners linebacker Ken Norton Jr., who was recently defensive coordinator for the Oakland Raiders before being fired in the middle of 2017.
News of the transaction was made public on San Francisco’s website Monday afternoon.
Norton, 51 years old, spent seven years with the Niners between 1994 and 2000, where he earned three Pro Bowl nominations and was named a first-team All-Pro in 1995. Norton then went onto a linebackers coach position at USC from 2004 through 2009, breaking back into the NFL at the same position with the Seattle Seahawks from 2010 through 2014.
