The San Francisco 49ers are gearing up for a Super Bowl rematch this weekend against Kansas City. The Niners have fallen short in the Super Bowl against Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and company twice under head coach Kyle Shanahan. As Shanahan prepares for a regular-season matchup against the familiar foe, he was asked if Kansas City’s use of man defense in the Super Bowl was a sign that they had identified a weakness in the Niners’ attack.
“They did more in the Super Bowl than they had in the past,” Shanahan said. “I think in the past they were like 20% man, and they went up to 35% in the Super Bowl, and that’s about where they are this year.
