The San Francisco 49ers secondary is a tale of two positions. On the one hand, you have a cornerback group that will suffer dearly from the loss of two high-caliber players in Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox and instead will start the able Tramaine Brock and the not-so-able Shareece Wright. On the other hand you have the safety positions, with Antoine Bethea and Eric Reid providing a monster starting two with a lot of power, energy, and tackling ability in addition to coverage. Behind them there’s Jimmie Ward, who more than held his own in his first NFL season while playing primarily in nickel and dime packages covering slot receivers.
