The San Francisco 49ers made their first wave of roster cuts on Friday, and more will come on Saturday prior to the 1 p.m. PT deadline. Seventeen players were released or waived/injured on Friday, with the biggest names being running back Tim Hightower and quarterback Matt Barkley.
With Kapri Bibbs also on that list, it could mean the 49ers have a set depth chart at the running back position, and of course, the release of Barkley means rookie C.J. Beathard is likely the primary backup for Brian Hoyer.
