SANTA CLARA — Swarming to the ball in the middle of the 49ers defense will be a new playmaker this season, if all goes well, which certainly isn’t guaranteed with this franchise’s luck in recent years.
Kwon Alexander reportedly agreed Monday to a contract with $24 million in guaranteed money despite going down in October with a torn anterior cruicate ligament.
Alexander, assuming he’s completely recovered, joins Fred Warner, who showed flashes last season as a rookie starter, in hopes of recreating the Patrick Willis-NaVorro Bowman magic from the 49ers’ last playoff run from 2011-13.
Alexander blossomed into a leader with the Bucs.
