Today the team announced that they have signed offensive lineman Colton McKivitz to a two-year extension which runs through the 2024 season. He was set to be a restricted free agent.
McKivitz was originally selected by the 49ers in the fifth round, 153rd overall, of the 2020 NFL draft. Over the last three years McKivitz has appeared in 28 games. The former West Virginia standout has made five starts with the team, most notably when he stepped in for an injured Trent Williams on the road against Los Angeles. With a playoff berth on the line in the final week of the season, McKivitz played well enough to help the 49ers overcome a 17-point deficit to secure a playoff berth.
