On Monday, the San Francisco 49ers exercised defensive lineman Arik Armstead’s fifth-year option for the 2019 season.
The deal is worth over $9 million due to the fact Armstead technically plays the more expensive defensive end position, although his best work has come from the interior of the Niners’ defensive line.
Fifth-year options: The #49ers exercised theirs for DL Arik Armstead and the #Eagles did the same for WR Nelson Agholor, sources say.

The option is also guaranteed for injury for the oft-injured Armstead, who missed 18 games over the past two seasons after playing a full 16-game season his rookie year.
