SANTA CLARA — When the 49ers needed another strong safety last week, they didn’t re-sign Eric Reid, and coach Kyle Shanahan explained why Tuesday.
Basically, Shanahan said Reid wouldn’t be interested in playing as a backup for the league minimum of $790,000.
Reid, along with former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, are suing the NFL citing that teams have colluded to keep them unemployed based on their protests during the national anthem.
