Plenty of people have forgotten what happened after The Catch.
But Dwight Clark isn’t among them.
On Tuesday, during a lunch with Bay Area sportswriters, including The Chronicle’s Scott Ostler, Clark didn’t have to be prompted to spread the credit for the 49ers’ 28-27 win over Dallas in the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 10, 1982.
After Clark’s historic touchdown with 51 seconds left, the next two snaps from scrimmage featured huge defensive plays: As noted in this story, Eric Wright made a touchdown-saving tackle on wide receiver Drew Pearson before Lawrence Pillers’ sack forced a game-sealing fumble that Jim Stuckey recovered.
