Before evaluating the next crop of draft hopefuls at the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine, Chip Kelly spent a week in February touring American military bases in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The San Francisco 49ers coach joined a traveling party of 15 people, including fellow coaches Troy Calhoun (Air Force) and Chris Creighton (Eastern Michigan), for the trip spanning three continents and six countries.
Kelly and Co. departed from an air base in Georgia and traveled a total of 19,126 miles with stops at Ramstein Air Base and Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, NSA (Naval Support Activity) and ISA Air Base in Bahrain, Camp Lemonnier in Djibouti and Aviano Air Force Base in Italy.
