Earlier this week the San Francisco 49ers cleared veteran interior offensive lineman/center Daniel Kilgore and rookie wide receiver DeAndre Smelter to practice, beginning each player’s 21 day practice period before the 49ers must decide whether to activate each player or place them on Injured Reserve, ending their season the way Colin Kaepernick‘s was ended on Saturday.
Kilgore, who broke his leg in October of 2014, was on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list to start the season, while Smelter, a rookie receiver out of Georgia Tech, is fresh off the Non-Football Injury (NFI) list, as his torn ACL occurred in his college playing days instead of during his time in the NFL.
