The 49ers on Monday claimed guard Willie Beavers off waivers from the Chicago Bears.
The club waived running back Matt Dayes to make room for Beavers on their roster.
Beavers, 25, was a fourth-round draft pick of the Minnesota Vikings in the 2016 draft. He played his college ball at Western Michigan. He appeared in two games -- his only two NFL appearances -- during his rookie season. He has also spent time with Minnesota, New England and Seattle in his career. Beavers (6-foot-5, 324 pounds) spent the final two months of last season on the Bears’ practice squad.
