The Sunday waiver deadline has passed, and the San Francisco 49ers have made at least one move. NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero tweeted the 49ers successfully claimed defensive end Xavier Cooper from the Cleveland Browns.
The Browns originally drafted him in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. Cooper measured in at the 2015 Combine at 6’3, 293 pounds. They had this to say about him at the time of the draft.
Cooper must play in a penetrating defensive front in order to minimize his lack of length and maximize his above-average athleticism.
