The 49ers played the majority of their Week 1 matchup against the Detroit Lions without their top running back after Raheem Mostert was forced to leave with a knee injury. However, with the result of the game already decided in the fourth quarter, 49ers cornerback Jason Verrett fell to the turf and immediately grabbed his right knee. As a result, he was ruled out with a knee injury.
Verrett was able to walk to the sideline under his own power but quickly sat on the bench and put a towel over his head. After a couple of minutes, he began walking to the locker room and required assistance before he could get into the tunnel.
