Anthony Davis’ return from a one-season hiatus — or retirement, as the 49ers phrased it — got the go-ahead Saturday from the NFL.
Davis applied for reinstatement earlier this week and got granted it, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Davis was expected to report for Saturday’s opening of camp.
It will be Davis’ first time back with his teammates since the end of the 2014 season, which was plagued by injuries, including a concussion that kept him out of four games. He did not participate in the 2015 offseason program before ultimately taking his surprise sabbatical in June 2015.
