The odds were against the San Francisco 49ers to clinch a playoff berth on Monday night. They needed a 4-8 New York Giants team to upset a Green Bay Packers team that came into the evening on a three-game winning streak and favored by nearly a touchdown.
But that’s why we play the games. You never know what’s going to happen or how they’ll play out. The Giants won the turnover battle, and got a tremendous effort from a quarterback who, respectfully, has no business playing in the NFL. But Tommy DeVito looked the part on Monday night and the Giants needed all 71 of his rushing yards.
