The National Weather Service adjusted its Chicago forecast Sunday morning — winds that were previously expected to be 20 mph are now expected to be closer to 8 mph, and an early morning downpour could be mostly done before the San Francisco 49ers' road opener at Soldier Field. Some light to moderate rain is expected during the game.
A flash flood warning was issued for the Chicago area by the NWS Sunday morning, but only through 12:15 p.m. Central time — 45 minutes before kickoff.
NFL Network's Stacey Dales did a live report from the Bears' homefield Sunday morning four hours before kickoff — which looked miserable — noting the Chicago Bears' new turf was installed to hopefully hold up to this kind of weather.
