SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers did not make much of an effort to re-sign the two cornerbacks who combined to start 28 games last season on a defense that ranked fourth in the NFL in opposing quarterback passer rating.
Tramaine Brock, projected to be the team’s top cornerback a year ago before injuries limited him to just two starts, returns to a presumptive starting role.
And the 49ers added a player in free agency who comes in expecting to start. Former San Diego Chargers cornerback Shareece Wright lined up with the starting unit during the 49ers’ voluntary minicamp this week.
