49ers add WR Harper to active roster, cut DuJuan Harris

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers will go into today’s game against the Rams with six wide receiver but just three running backs after they promoted receiver Chris Harper to the active roster and released running back DuJuan Harris.

Harper, who played at Cal, had been part of the practice squad during the run-up to the game. He will wear No. 14 and presumably will back up slot receiver Jeremy Kerley (No. 17). Th other receivers are Torrey Smith, Quinton Patton, Rod Streater and rookie Aaron Burbridge.

Harris didn’t make the 49ers’ initial 53-man roster. But the team added him after placing cornerback Will Redmond on injured reserve.
