49ers add veteran cornerback while shuffling roster

The 49ers shuffled their roster a bit Tuesday, including claiming veteran cornerback C.J. Goodwin off waivers from the New York Giants.

Goodwin, a four-year veteran who played for the Falcons while 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan was an Atlanta assistant, has now been with five teams since signing with the Steelers in 2014. Goodwin played two games last season for the Cardinals after being cut by the Falcons, but he was claimed off waivers on May 1 by the Giants.

Goodwin appeared in 26 games for the Falcons, including their Super Bowl LI loss to the Patriots.

In addition, the 49ers waived wide receiver DeAndre Carter and signed undrafted rookie defensive lineman Blaine Woodson from the University of Delaware to a three-year contract.
