After addressing some skill positions, the 49ers are turning to special teams.
The 49ers have signed Texans safety Don Jones, 26, who led Houston with 11 special-teams tackles in just nine games last year. A 2013 seventh-round pick, Jones has 37 career special-teams tackles in a career that’s included stops with the Dolphins, Patriots, Saints and Browns.
Before announcing the signing of Jones, the 49ers added Seahawks linebacker Brock Coyle, who is also a core special-teams player. The 49ers have signed 11 players since the start of free agency on Thursday and the group includes three wide receivers, a quarterback, a fullback and a tight end.
