SANTA CLARA — The 49ers brought in another defender familiar with the schemes of defensive coordinator Robert Saleh Wednesday with the signing of linebacker Korey Toomer.
Toomer, 29, was originally a fifth-round draft pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 under defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, with Saleh on the same defensive staff.
Primarily a special teams player for most of his career, Toomer got the most playing time as a linebacker with the Los Angeles Chargers, where Bradley was defensive coordinator in 2017.
Although Toomer never saw the field for the Seahawks, he played for the Rams, Cowboys and Raiders from 2014-16, primarily on special teams.
