49ers add former Texans wide receiver, ex-Giants lineman

SANTA CLARA — A week into training camp and the 49ers figured to need reinforcements at positions where injuries have tested their depths. Saturday’s addition came at wide receiver and defensive line.

Chris Thompson, formerly of the Houston Texans, signed with the 49ers, as did former New York Giants defensive lineman Jay Bromley.

In corresponding roster moves, the 49ers placed defensive lineman Kapron Lewis-Moore (groin) on injured reserve and waived wide receiver Max McCaffrey, who did not practice Friday .

Thompson had five receptions for 84 yards in 2017, as well as six punt returns and 17 kick returns, upon being promoted from the Texans practice squad.
