The 49ers have traded guard Brandon Thomas to the Lions for wide receiver Jeremy Kerley, the NFL Network reported.
Kerley, a fifth-round pick in 2011, joins Torrey Smith as the 49ers’ only wideout with more than 36 career catches. Kerley, who spent his first five seasons with the Jets, had 16 catches for 152 yards and two touchdowns last year. He had career-highs in catches (56) and yards (827) in 2012, and has 182 catches and 2,225 yards. Kerley (5-9, 188) has primarily been a slot receiver in the NFL.
