The 49ers will announce their first wave of roster cuts later today before paring their roster to 53 players by 1 p.m. Saturday.
At the risk of spoiling all the suspense, here’s how the roster will look on Saturday afternoon (I think):
QUARTERBACKS (3)
Brian Hoyer; C.J. Beathard; Matt Barkley
Cut: Nick Mullens
Kyle Shanahan wants to keep three QBs and he will because A) Hoyer has an extensive medical file and B) There’s no guarantee Barkley won’t quickly land with another team (Um, have you seen some of the backups QBs in the NFL?
