While not necessarily landing some of the names many San Francisco 49ers fans wanted to see in NFL free agency, general manager John Lynch at least made a few splash moves to improve what was a 4-12 roster a year ago.
Simply put, the Niners are a better team now than they were a month ago.
Highlighting the cast of offseason grabs so far were linebacker Kwon Alexander, EDGE Dee Ford and running back Tevin Coleman. Other moves, such as one-year deals for cornerback Jason Verrett and wide receiver Jordan Matthews, help alleviate some of the depth concerns Lynch and Co.
