After finishing with just 37 sacks in 2018, which was tied for 22nd in the NFL, the San Francisco 49ers elected to make some notable moves to upgrade the pass rush.
Chief among these were making a trade for former Kansas City Chiefs EDGE Dee Ford, then adding former Ohio State edge rusher Nick Bosa with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Ford, the Chiefs’ first-round pick from the 2014 NFL Draft, joins a stocked Niners defensive line, which boasts an additional three former first rounders: defensive tackles DeForest Buckner, Arik Armstead and Solomon Thomas.
