The San Francisco 49ers aren’t going to have a lot of openings on their defensive line heading into 2019, which doesn’t spell good news for undrafted rookie free-agent lineman Jamell Garcia-Williams.
That said, the 6-foot-8, 255 pounder out of the University of Alabama-Birmingham does have some workable traits, which might help him stick around as a member of the Niners’ practice squad.
Garcia-Williams was highly productive his senior year, posting a solid 9.5 sacks, which ranked third in Conference USA, and 15.5 tackles for a loss.
San Francisco is seeking a developmental pass-rusher with Garcia-Williams, hoping he can eventually emerge as a rotational depth piece in coming seasons.
