Despite an awfully deep class of tight ends in the 2019 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers waited until Round 6 to select Stanford’s Kaden Smith.
The Niners don’t need to worry about a No. 1 option here, of course. Not with Pro Bowler George Kittle in the picture. But the depth chart behind Kittle is questionable at best. And while Smith looks to be safely on the back end of the 53-man roster heading towards training camp, there’s a chance he could oust veteran tight end Garrett Celek, too.
