The 49er are the only team in the NFL this season without a first quarter offensive TD. This lack of production is a major factor in the 49ers having the worst-ranked scoring offense of 14.4 points per game.
This week, offensive coordinator Geep Chryst needs to open up the offense playbook and allow quarterback Blaine Gabbert to take shots down the field. These have only occurred sparingly this season and Chryst’s conservative game plans have not worked, hence one of the many reasons why this team is 4-10.
The 49ers have the wide receivers who can catch the deep ball – namely Torrey Smith and Quinton Patton.
