Earlier this offseason, it didn’t seem like the San Francisco 49ers would make an under-the-radar move by parting ways with veteran right guard Mike Person. After all, Person had started all but two regular-season games in his two years with the Niners. And aside from being overworked by Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones in Super Bowl LIV, Person was both reliable and serviceable if not overly exemplary.
But San Francisco did cut Person just before the 2020 league new year began, freeing up over $2 million in cap space against zero in dead money.
