After more than a month of speculation, the San Francisco 49ers selected their QB of the future when they take Trey Lance third overall.
General manager John Lynch and head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media after making the pick on Thursday and said they zeroed in on the North Dakota State product on Monday.
Despite all the outside noise, the Niners passed up on Alabama’s Mac Jones, who fell to the New England Patriots at No. 15. Some draft pundits had San Francisco going with Ohio State’s Justin Fields, but he wound up going 11th overall to the Chicago Bears.
