Coming into day three of the 2019 NFL Draft, the San Francisco 49ers still had some needs to fill at various places on the roster.
After making a trade to move back in the fourth round, a second trade with the Denver Broncos gave the Niners a fifth-round pick, something they didn’t have coming into the draft, and allowed them to unload a player who was unlikely to make the squad anyway, linebacker Dekoda Watson.
Interestingly, the 49ers chose to select a player who plays a similar position to Watson, albeit one who is significantly younger than the former Niners’ linebacker.
