The San Francisco 49ers went local with their first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, taking Stanford defensive end Solomon Thomas with the third overall selection.
San Francisco took Thomas after moving back a spot, picking up an extra third and fourth rounder from the Bears — who jumped up to take Mitchell Trubisky — along with a third-round choice next year.
Those extra picks will give the Niners more ammo with which to rebuild their roster, but what they are getting in Thomas is a defensive lineman who dominates inside with his quickness and earned a number of honors in his final season with the Cardinal.
