The NFL Draft is approaching quickly. The national attention is starting to turn away from free agency and towards the NFL Draft. We've already put together a full first round mock draft, and now we have a three round mock just for the San Francisco 49ers.
The 49ers are coming off a rough season and have needs at multiple positions. They might actually be in the position to simply take the best prospect on their board and play him right away. While Chip Kelly is the new head coach, general manager Trent Baalke is still the one calling the shots. With that in mind, here is the 49ers' 3 Round 2016 NFL Mock Draft.
Round 1, Pick No. 7: Jared Goff, QB, Cal
The 49ers are a popular landing spot for Goff, and it makes sense. The team is reportedly high on him, and they'd be landing the local product. Goff appears to be a good fit for Chip Kelly's system. While the future of Colin Kaepernick is unclear, a trade before, after or during the draft still seems like the most likely outcome. Blaine Gabbert isn't the answer at QB, but Goff might be.
Round 2, Pick No. 37: Braxton Miller, WR, Ohio State
The 49ers badly need weapons on offense, and that's what Miller can be. He needs work on being a true WR, but he looked great at the Senior Bowl. Chip Kelly can certainly find creative ways to get the dynamic Miller the ball and Miller would be a perfect fit in Kelly's offense. If there's a quality WR still on the board for the 49ers, don't be surprised if they pull the trigger.
Round 3, Pick No. 68: Joshua Garnett, OG, Stanford
The 49ers and Chip Kelly love Garnett, and he fills a need. He's a mauler in the running game, and will be great opening up holes. However, there are concerns about his ability in the passing game and he'll need work in that area. There's a decent chance he's off the board before the 49ers can take him.
