The NFL Draft will start in less than a month, and there will be plenty of trades. That's just the nature of the draft, although those trades are very difficult to predict. One of the teams that could be movers early in the draft is the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers and general manager Trent Baalke have proven that they are willing to make moves on draft day.
To help determine the value of each pick and what it would cost, we're using the NFL trade value chart. While the trade values won't match up exactly, we tried to get them as close to even as possible. With that in mind, here are three trades the 49ers could make in the NFL Draft.
3. Trade Up With The Cowboys
49ers Get: No. 4 overall pick
Cowboys Get: No. 7 overall pick, 3rd round pick (No. 68 overall), 5th round pick (No. 142 overall)
For all the talk that general manager Trent Baalke loves to move down and get more picks, which he does, the only time he's done so in the first round was last year. He slid back two spots to take DE Arik Armstead. In the past, Baalke has moved up for Eric Reid and Anthony Davis. That means it's a bit more likely that the 49ers move up in the first round. If the 49ers fear the Cowboys will take Jared Goff, or deal down with a team like the Rams, they might try to move up. Although the 49ers get more value out of this deal, they might not want to sacrifice a third rounder.
2. Trade Down With The Dolphins:
Dolphins Get: No. 7 overall pick
49ers Get: No. 13 overall pick, 3rd round pick (No. 73 overall), 4th round pick (No. 107 overall)
The 49ers love to move down, and they could do so if they think they can still get Jared Goff or whomever they are targeting. Doing this would allow the Dolphins to go get a CB or even jump the Eagles if they really want Ezekiel Elliott. While the Dolphins actually get better value in this deal, they might not want to part with a 3rd and a 4th rounder. The 49ers do run the risk of missing out on Goff if they move down.
1. Trade With Broncos:
49ers Get: 3rd round draft pick (No. 94 overall)
Broncos Get: QB Colin Kaepernick
The 49ers and Broncos are already on the verge of finally working out a deal for Kaepernick. Once Kaepernick agrees to take a pay cut (of if the 49ers pay the $4.9 million difference in salary the Broncos want), this deal will go through. The Broncos land a QB they need, and the 49ers get another draft pick. For more 49ers coverage, download the Chat Sports App!
