This wasn't how the 49ers were hoping this one would go.
Seattle once again kept San Francisco's offense in check, putting enough points on the board to seal an important divisional win.
Turning Point:
Seattle held a 10-7 lead going into the fourth quarter, and it looked like the 49ers had stopped the Seahawks on a 3rd and 5 at the San Francisco 15. Instead, Nick Moody was flagged for roughing the passer on what looked like a clean hit, extending Seattle's drive...and they capitalized two plays later when Russell Wilson found rookie WR Paul Richardson in the end zone.
Seahawks MVP:
The Seahawks got solid contributions from Marshawn Lynch, Russell Wilson, and WR Jermaine Kearse, but it was their defensive front seven that really stole the show. Colin Kaepernick was sacked six times, and was never able to find a rhythm as his offensive line was overpowered time and time again.
Time For A Change?
49ers RB Carlos Hyde and Colin Kaepernick both picked up more rushing yards on fewer carries than Frank Gore, who continues to struggle. Gore has broken the 100-yard mark just twice this year, and he hasn't reached it since Week 5.
Stat of the Day:
Five different Seahawks brough down Colin Kaepernick for a sack today, with Bobby Wagner, K.J. Wright, Bruce Irvin, Kevin Williams and Jordan Hill (2) all getting to the 49ers quarterback.
What's Next?
The 49ers are now officially eliminated from playoff contention with Detroit's win and this loss, and the outlook in San Francisco is cloudy at best. With speculation about Jim Harbaugh's future swirling, the Niners will host the San Diego Chargers next week with nothing but pride on the line.
Seattle will visit the Arizona Cardinals for a massive Sunday Night Football showdown, with the NFC West and playoff seeding on the line.
