The San Francisco 49ers will have a visit with Georgia WR Malcolm Mitchell, reports Aaron Wilson of National Football Post. Mitchell is one of several wide receivers the 49ers are looking into taking in the 2016 NFL Draft.
Mitchell checks in at 6-feet, 198-pounds and was a former five-star recruit with high expectations. He seemed on track to reach those expectations after he was freshman All-SEC pick. However, injuries helped prevent him from reaching his potential, as did poor QB play at UGA.
Mitchell, despite knee injuries, has the speed NFL teams want and could contribute on returns. There's potential with Mitchell, but also risk. The 49ers have shown a willingness to take players who have had injury problems in the past and they need WR help. Torrey Smith is the only proven option on the roster, although there are several former mid-round picks with potential.
In addition to the 49ers, Mitchell has visits set up with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles. He'll likely be an Early Day 3 selection.
