When the San Francisco 49ers first signed former Australian rugby star Jarryd Hayne, he was thought of as a long-shot to make the final 53-man roster. Now, it looks like the 49ers might not be able to keep him off it.
Hayne has been one of the best stories of the preseason and one of the most exciting players.

His return ability alone might be worthy of a roster spot, but he's played well enough as a running back to help boost his case.
Working against Hayne is that the 49ers have several talented running backs. Carlos Hyde is the clear starter, Reggie Bush should be the third down back and Mike Davis is a rookie who shows promise. If Hayne does make the roster, Kendall Hunter would likely be the odd-man out.
