The San Francisco 49ers have placed running back Carlos Hyde on injured reserve with a fractured foot, ending his 2015 season.

Hyde hasn't played since the middle of October with his foot injury sidelining him in the wake of the team's Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Hyde played through the injury against Seattle, but was only able to rush for 40 yards on 11 carries before being taken out.
49ers head coach Jim Tomsula told reporters earlier in the week that he was unsure whether or not Hyde would play again this season. However, with the 49ers out of playoff contention and the team beginning its preparation for the long offseason ahead, it makes sense to hold the young halfback out so he's at full strength come next year's training camp.
With Hyde out, the 49ers promoted tight end Brian Leonhardt to take his place.
