The NFL Draft is officially one month away, and the San Francisco 49ers have already turned their attention to the top prospects in the draft. They've already made several moves this offseason, but the potential for a few more could impact their draft plans. Here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the 49ers.
49ers meet with Laquon Treadwell
Ole Miss wide receiver Laquon Treadwell has seen his draft stock slip this offseason and underwhelmed again at his pro day, running a 4.63 40-yard dash. However, the 49ers were on hand and met with him after his on-field workouts, according to the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows.
“I didn’t run what I wanted to run,” Treadwell said. "But I'm proud of myself for what I did run. I gave it my all."
San Francisco has a big need at receiver, as Torrey Smith is the only player currently on their roster that had more than 30 catches last season.
San Francisco interested in Connor Cook?
Drafting Treadwell in the first round would mean that the 49ers would pass on a quarterback, a position many expect them to take in the first round. If they don't take a Jared Goff in the first rough, they could take someone like Michigan State's Connor Cook on Day 2 of the draft, who they have been linked to.
What will the 49ers do at tight end?
San Francisco doesn't have anything resembling a starting tight end on their roster, and by passing on all options in free agency, they seem content on taking one in the draft. However, this is a very weak class at the position, headlined by Arkansas' Hunter Henry and Stanford's Austin Hooper. Look for the 49ers to target those two prospects in the second round of the draft.
