The San Francisco 49ers are 3-0 in the preseason after Saturday’s victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, 27-17. The starters, including QB Jimmy Garoppolo, played through the first half and quieted the chatter from the media over his performance, or lack thereof, against the Broncos just 5 days earlier. Groppolo completed 14-for-20 for 188 yards and no interceptions, earning himself a B+ in Thomas Mott’s book. Mott gives you his 49ers grades from Preseason Week 3.

Kwon Alexander made his debut for the 49ers this week and proved he was fully healthy. Alexander tore his ACL last October and was questionable about his recovery in time for NFL regular season. The 49ers face off against his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in week 1 and all signs point to Alexander not only playing, but starting. Nick Mullens, Matt Breida and Deebo Samuel were all given grades, too. Did Mullens performance secure him the back-up QB job? Deebo Samuel only caught two balls, however, he seems to have a talent that is likely to be fully tapped come regular season. And the offensive line’s dominance in the run game helped inflate Matt Breida’s yards-per-carry average to a whopping 6.3.
