NFL Free Agency officially starts today, and the next few days will feature several San Francisco 49ers rumors. While free agency didn't officially start until 4 p.m., teams have used the "legal tampering" days to their advantage. That means teams can discuss contracts with any player, although a deal can't be signed until Wednesday. With that in mind, here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the 49ers.
Kaepernick To Replace Osweiler?
With Broncos losing QB Brock Osweiler, they could target 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick as the replacement.
If the #Broncos lose QB Brock Osweiler, expect them to come after QB Colin Kaepernick. That appears to be their backup plan.

Kaepernick wants out of San Francisco, and heading to the defending Super Bowl Champions could be a good fit for him. What the Broncos would give up is unclear. That report came out before the Broncos lost Osweiler, and another one says Kaepernick discussions are happening.
49ers Sign QB Thad Lewis
The 49ers have a fourth QB under contract now, as the signed QB Thad Lewis.
I'm told QB Thad Lewis has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with the #49ers. Gets an opportunity to continue playing for Chip Kelly.

Lewis played for Chip Kelly in Philadelphia last season, although he never saw the field. Lewis isn't going to start for the 49ers, but his knowledge of Kelly's playbook could help the other QBs on the roster. The deal is likely a very cheap one.
Niners Lose OG Alex Boone
The 49ers will need to find a replacement for Alex Boone, as he left for Minnesota.

Vikings, per source.
The contract is reportedly a four-year, $26.8 million deal. The 49ers should have plenty of cap space to find a replacement.
