The NFL Playoffs are in full swing, but the focus for the San Francisco 49ers remains squarely on the search for former head coach Jim Tomsula's replacement. Here's the latest and most interesting 49ers coaching rumor/news tidbits for Monday, January 11th.
Coughlin And The 49ers?
The 49ers have already conducted interviews with coaches like Hue Jackson (who is likely at the top of their list) and they're looking to interview another former head coach.
Interesting development: The Giants have granted the 49ers permission to interview Tom Coughlin, source tells @FS1.

Coughlin is interviewing with the Eagles later tonight. Coughlin hadn't been linked to the 49ers at all this offseason, so this coming out of nowhere.
Jackson's Meeting Was "Productive"
Even if Jackson is at the top of the list for the 49ers, he left Sunday's interview without an offer. CSN Bay Area (and several other outlets) reports that Jackson's interview was "productive." Jackson interviewed with the Browns later that day and the Giants have now requested an interview with Jackson.
Jed York Involved In Search
This might not sit well with 49ers fans, as many of them don't like Jed York.
Have heard John & Jed York are playing a big role in this search. Talking with candidates.

As the folks over at SB Nation pointed out, York never said he wouldn't be involved in the search.
