San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh has been under the microscope over the past week, after NFL Network analyst (and former Niner) Deion Sanders let loose information from an unnamed source in the locker room that indicates players want Harbaugh fired sooner rather than later.
Regardless of the hype surrounding him, Travis Haney of ESPN.com reports that "most in the coaching world anticipate him staying in San Francisco, or possibly taking another NFL job. But if he does leave for a college gig, those close to Harbaugh told an ESPN colleague that it would be for Kansas. Yes, Kansas."
"The last time the KU job was open, Harbaugh strongly considered leaving Stanford for Lawrence," Haney added. "So some believe that the embattled Niners coach would kick it around."
Harbaugh's wife is a Kansas City native, and per those close to Harbaugh, the 49ers head coach seems to love it in the Sunflower State.
"He's just crazy enough to do it," a Harbaugh confidant said to ESPN The Magazine's Seth Wickersham, via Haney's article on Friday.
