In today's edition of 49ers rumors, the San Francisco 49ers may be looking to create some competition at the starting center spot via the 2014 NFL Draft.
So says Doug Williams of NBC Bay Area (by way of ProFootballRumors.com), who indicates that the 49ers are expected to promote Daniel Kilgore, " [former starter Jonathan] Goodwin’s primary backup last season, is the front-runner to earn the job, with another veteran, Adam Snyder, capable of backing him up."
However, Williams added, "with 11 draft choices available, the 49ers are expected to draft at least one player to challenge that group."
ESPN draft expert Todd McShay as the San Francisco 49ers selecting former USC Trojans center Marcus Martin in the third round with the 61st overall pick, saying that "Martin has the potential to be a good starting center for a long time, and would be a nice addition to the Niners’ offensive line."
The San Francisco 49ers haven't given any indication over who they are actually targeting with said pick, so take it as conjecture at this point.
