Despite reports that the San Francisco 49ers were looking to work out Canadian Football League wide receiver Duron Carter, son of Duron Carter, it appears that the 49ers may have moved on.
Per Niners Nation's David Fucillo, "the 49ers reportedly were looking into working out Carter, but there has been no follow-up. ESPN reported earlier this month that Carter said the Minnesota Vikings and Indianapolis Colts were his top two choices. The Colts provide him with a chance to work with Andrew Luck, while the Vikings are where his father, Cris Carter, made his name in the NFL. I am not anticipating Carter signing with the 49ers at this point, but I suppose anything is possible."

The 49ers have some question marks to address at wide receiver this offseason with Michael Crabtree scheduled to hit free agency and a lack of clarity as to whether or not Quinton Patton and Bruce Ellington are ready to step up into more pronounced roles.
San Francisco will likely use some of their draft capital to add some depth if Crabtree leaves, but don't be surprised if San Francisco keeps looking for budget options such as Carter in free agency.
