The San Francisco 49ers hoped to have veteran linebacker Patrick Willis back on the field for Sunday's game against the New Orleans Saints. However, the toe injury that Willis has been dealing with will likely keep him out for at least another game.
Willis was a no-go for practice on Friday, per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, meaning that he has once again missed an entire week of practice due to the injury.
According to Darin Gantt of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "defensive coordinator Vic Fangio referred to Willis as “questionable” yesterday, though that was more of a descriptive word than a technical injury report designation."
Barring some major luck in the injury department, Patrick Willis once again seems closer to "doubtful" when it comes to the team's game-time decision. Thus, expect to see Chris Borland once again filling the middle slot for Sunday's pivotal NFC battle with the Saints.
