Count San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Colin Kaepernick as firmly in the corner of in-house promotion and new head coach Jim Tomsula.
"Jim Tomsula's gonna be a great coach for us," Kaepernick said, via Kevin Patra of NFL.com. "Players coach, always around the guys. Someone that's willing to listen to what players say and has their intake. And I think that's something that will help this team move forward. We have a lot of veteran players that know what they're seeing on the field and know what they're doing, so I think that will help us."
One may very well be able to read the "willing to listen to what players say" as a subtle crack at now-Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, but Kaepernick says that his relationship with Harbaugh remains strong.
"My relationship with Jim has always been great," Kaepernick said. "He's the one who drafted me, chose to start me. He's had my back from the start."
